The Lodge and The Forge are both situated in the grounds of Bedford Cottage in the centre of the peaceful village of Buckland Monachorum on the edge of Dartmoor. They make an excellent base for exploring the miles of beautiful moorland, magnificent granite tors, ancient stone circles and mining heritage on Dartmoor as well as the unspoilt beaches of Devon and Cornwall and numerous National Trust houses and gardens all within easy reach.
The holiday cottages
The Lodge was built in 2013 using local stone and slate tiles to create a cosy detached holiday cottage for two.
The Forge adjoins the owners' cottage and was formerly the village forge. It is now a comfortable holiday cottage for two.
Both cottages are well equipped and furnished to a high standard with ample off road parking. Short breaks are available throughout the year.
A warm welcome all year round
You will be assured of a warm welcome from owners, Carol and Andrew, who live in Bedford Cottage and are on hand to help you in any way they can to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
The perfect place to unwind
Buckland Monachorum is a quiet village surrounded by beautiful countryside. The local village pub, The Drake Manor, is very welcoming and serves good food and ale. The ancient market town of Tavistock (5 miles) has an award winning Pannier Market and regular farmers markets. Plymouth (9 miles) offers modern shopping malls for those seeking retail therapy, as well as the historic Barbican area.
As well as walking and cycling on Dartmoor, other leisure activities in the vicinity include golf, fishing, horse riding, kayaking on the River Tamar and watersports at Roadford Lake.
